Chinese rescue teams with search and rescue dogs and professional rescue equipment go to Turkey

BEIJING, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Two consecutive 7.8-magnitude earthquakes struck Turkey on Feb. 6, causing major casualties and property damage. A number of Chinese rescue teams carrying a number of search and rescue dogs and professional rescue equipment, went to the earthquake-stricken areas of Turkey to implement international rescue.


Up to now, the strong earthquake has caused more than 5,000 people to be killed in Turkey and Syria. According to incomplete statistics, there have been China rescue team, ram rescue team, blue sky rescue team, shenzhen public welfare rescue team and other rescue forces are or will soon go to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey.


At the request of the Turkish government, the Chinese government sent the Chinese rescue team to Turkey to implement international rescue. In the afternoon of February 7, Beijing time, the Chinese rescue team took the chartered plane of Air China from the capital airport and flew to the disaster area.


In accordance with the unified deployment, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China sent 82 members of the Chinese rescue team to the disaster area with 4 search and rescue dogs as well as rescue equipment and materials. The rescue team was mainly composed of personnel from Beijing Municipal Fire Brigade, China Earthquake Emergency Search and Rescue Center and Emergency General Hospital.

This time, the Chinese rescue team flew to the earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey with 21 tons of rescue equipment and protection materials. In order to protect the work and life of the 82 people in the Chinese rescue team, the Chinese rescue team carried drinking water, instant noodles, canned food, rescue tools, demolition tools and other materials that can protect the life and work for 14 days.


On the same day, China's first social rescue force Rams Rescue Team departed from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province to Turkey, is expected to arrive at the earthquake-stricken site on the 8th local time. Rams Rescue Team will rush to the most seriously damaged areas of the earthquake in Turkey. Advance team consists of 8 rich international rescue experience of earthquake rescue experts, they carry advanced radar life search instrument, breaking rescue equipment and a search and rescue dogs.


It is understood that the ram rescue team was established in 2008, is a specialized response to disaster emergency response to the internationalization of professional rescue team, so far has undertaken international and domestic rescue mission 287 times.


After being informed of the earthquake, the Blue Sky Rescue Team opened the emergency rescue work at the first time. Blue Sky rescue system within the team to send the first echelon of 60 people with medium-sized rescue equipment, 2 search and rescue dogs, on February 8, set off to Istanbul, Turkey, is expected to return on the 20th.


Public information shows that the Blue Sky Rescue Team, founded in 2007, is a professional, independent and purely public welfare emergency rescue organization in China. The agency has brand authorized teams in 31 provinces across the country, more than 30,000 volunteers across the country have been professionally trained and certified, and have participated in China's Wenchuan, Yushu, the Philippines, Myanmar and other places rescue activities.

According to the news of Shenzhen public welfare rescue team, after urgent consultation and judgment, the team decided to start the "Turkey 0206 earthquake international disaster relief action", sent an advance group of the United Nations social emergency response force team to Turkey to carry out international rescue in earthquake-stricken areas; currently docking the Chinese Embassy in Turkey, the Turkish Embassy in China, local Chinese organizations, Chinese-funded institutions and other units to implement the itinerary. At present, it is in the process of docking with the Chinese Embassy in Turkey, the Turkish Embassy in China, local overseas Chinese organizations and Chinese-funded institutions to implement the trip.


Deng Boqing, deputy director of China's National Agency for International Development Cooperation, said in an interview on the 7th that the Chinese government initiated the emergency humanitarian assistance mechanism at the first time and decided to provide emergency assistance to Turkey and Syria. The first batch will provide Turkey with 40 million yuan of emergency assistance, including the dispatch of heavy urban rescue teams, medical teams, providing the Turkish side of the urgently needed relief supplies; and coordination to provide Syria with the Syrian side of the urgently needed relief supplies, and to speed up the implementation of the ongoing food aid projects.
